  • Government service

    Mike served three terms in the Oklahoma House of Representatives, twice served as Secretary of State, headed up state agencies and was Oklahoma Attorney General from 2017-2021.

  • Financial Services

    Mike served as Chief operating officer in Washington, D.C. for the American Council of Life Insurers and the American Bankers Association.

  • Energy

    For a substantial part of his private practice, Mike represented Oklahoma oil and gas clients and served as the General Counsel of the Oklahoma Corporation Commission.

  • Appellate Work

    Mike was the lead counsel in the landmark case, SW Bell v. Anthony which established public utility regulation is a legislative function.  As Attorney General, he spearheaded state and federal cases involving native American issues, criminal convictions, consumer rights and separation of powers.

  • Negotiations and Mediations

    Mike was the lead negotiator for the state in settling Chickasaw and Choctaw Nations v. Fallin, et al which established treaty rights of the tribes and their symbiotic relationship with the State of Oklahoma.  As Attorney General, he secured the largest per capita settlements at the time in lawsuits against opioid manufacturers.  As a mediator this past year, he settled a dispute involving a native American tribe and an oil and gas company involving hundreds of multimillion-dollar projects.

    His experience in general practice includes, real property transactions and litigation, wills, trusts, estates, and administrative and regulatory issues.
